Listed below are all of Stonecreek's ministries:
Active Youth/Active JV (High School/Junior High) - Robert Jenkins
The youth meet on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. to receive spiritual development through inter-active Bible study and "hang time." The junior high youth also meet on Sunday mornings during church services. Various fun outings and events are held throughout the year, particularly during the summer.
After Church Fellowship - Amy Miura
The purpose of this ministry is to provide our members and visiting guests with refreshments and "goodies" following each Sunday morning worship service.
Beach Church Homeless Ministry - Scott Shald
Stonecreek is a ministry partner with several other local churches in a ministry called "Beach Church." Every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., homeless people in Laguna Beach have the opportunity to receive a hot breakfast, clothing donations, and a message about Jesus, as well as sing worship songs. Stonecreek hosts "Beach Church" one Saturday per month as a local missions outreach. To get involved as a volunteer to cook food, sing and play music, or just to provide friendship to those less fortunate, contact the Ministry Leader.
Central Asia Missionaries - The Chuhaloffs
Scott and Kristy Chuhaloff are our liaisons with our missionary family in Central Asia. If you would like to help support them, please contact Scott or Kristy.
Children's Ministry - Destin Blais (Interim)
A place for children from infancy through 4th grade during our 10:00 a.m. Sunday services. We are currently using a curriculum that uses a rotating system similar to Vacation Bible School, where the kids attend an "opening celebration" and then participate in projects, games, and a "surprise station."
Church Events - Silvia Abe
This ministry provides various functions throughout the year for members of the entire congregation to gather for fellowship and fun.
Club 56 - Mark Snyder
This is our pre-teen ministry to 5th and 6th graders. Modeled after our youth programs, Club 56 offers an opportunity for them to dig deeper into their relationship with Christ and each other. Club 56 meets every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and has "Night Club" every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Night Clubs are packed with games, activities, fellowship, praise and worship, prayer, small group and large group discussions, media presentations, and off-site activities. We talk about "stuff" affecting their lives, things that influence their walk with Jesus, and find biblical answers to what they should do when faced with all that "stuff."
Communion Preparation - Diane Mortenson
The purpose of this ministry is to faithfully prepare the emblems for the communion portion of our Sunday worship service every Sunday.
Cross Training - Pastor Dick
This is a class designed to help bring people to Christ and then disciple them to maturity. The classes then give mature Christians materials they can use to win others by having an answer for the truth that lies within them. The classes are open to all individuals interested in sharing their faith.
Crown Financial Ministries - Chris Meersman
This ministry uses materials provided by Crown Financial Ministries that give an opportunity for adults to learn what Scripture teaches about managing all of our possessions in order to obtain freedom, contentment, and economic stability that comes from practicing a more disciplined and less consumptive lifestyle. Classes are taught in a small group study format one evening a week for 10 weeks in a participant's or facilitator's home. There is approximately two hours of preparation outside of class each week and scripture to memorize. The cost is $65.00 for couples; $45 for singles.
You will learn how to be able to get out of debt, to spend money responsibly, save and invest, budget, give, earn money, and train your children as well. This study will also strengthen marriages and build close personal relationships with others in the group, as well as cause you to enter into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
Elderly Care Ministry - Contact Church Office
This ministry focuses on the senior members of our community, specifically those in our local assisted living centers. Activities include visiting the centers and interacting with its residents, playing games such as bingo, reading poetry, reciting bible verses, etc. The ministry welcomes all ages and families and promises to be very rewarding for both its volunteers and recipients.
Expression - John Greer
The purpose of this ministry is to greet attendees warmly as they enter the sanctuary, to provide seating assistance, to ensure an adequate support staff for passing the weekly communion and offering trays on Sundays, and to help plan and prepare for special events that involve the use of the sanctuary.
Home Groups - Chris Meersman
Stonecreek strives to do what Jesus would do through home groups: create connections and build the church. Jesus' model was to have small groups within the larger church, each group with a direction, goal, and purpose. The groups can be geared for men, women, singles, or couples and cover topics or Bible books agreed upon within each group. These groups meet weekly on a day or evening chosen by the group.
Impression (Church Sanctuary/Building Décor) - Shelli Mire
The purpose of this ministry is to enhance the worship experience by planning for and decorating the sanctuary for holidays, themes, and special church events.
Kidz 4 Christ - Carol Worthington
Utilizing curriculum called "Building Kids Faith," this is a fun club program for boys and girls from age 3 through 4th grade. They meet at church on Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (October through June). The kids will learn to locate a Bible passage by book, chapter and verse; recite books of the New Testament, memorize a verse every week, read the Bible and apply it to their lives, pray for others and themselves, recite the Ten Commandments and Lord's Prayer, tell their friends about Jesus, trust God to answer prayer and participate in games, worship and make new friends. They will also have an activity page to take home each week with one Bible memory verse on it that coincides with the Bible story taught and questions for the family to discuss around the dinner or breakfast table. It won't add extra stress on kids who are already overwhelmed with homework.
Kids' Carnival - Contact Church Office
This is an annual event that takes place on October 31st. It provides a safe Halloween alternative for the children of our church and community and gives everyone in our Stonecreek family a chance to be involved in an annual community outreach ministry. We extend an invitation to the people of the surrounding communities through a variety of advertising venues; we strive to create a memorable experience for those who may be seeking a church or have questions regarding their faith; and we also provide materials and information that explain an overview of the opportunities to grow and serve in our church.
You can host a trunk-or-treat car which is very similar to handing out candy from your home (only the candy is handed out from the trunk of your car in the church parking lot). Many people decorate their cars to get into the spirit of the event. Trunk-or-treating runs for the first hour of the carnival and then is closed. Volunteers are needed to work the booths on the night of the event. Sign-ups start at the beginning of October, and you are notified of your shift and booth the week before the carnival.
Marriage Class - Mark & Keri Posthill
A very worthwhile class for marriages available for up to a dozen couples in each class based on the book "His Needs, Her Needs" and put on by Family Dynamics. The class is held at least once a year and is a 9-week, intense class that really helps marriages learn how to thrive!
Meals Ministry - Barbra Ashcraft
The purpose of this ministry is to provide meals for church families in times of need, and to provide an opportunity for all members of the church body to serve by preparing meals for one another during such times.
There are a variety of reasons and circumstances that may result in the need for meals to be provided, such as arrival of a new baby, illness, surgery or hospitalization, or death in the family.
If you or someone you know is in need of a meal, please contact the current Meals Ministry Leader or call the church office. Contact the Ministry Leader if you would like to be on the list of those who are able and willing to prepare and/or deliver meals.
Men's Ministry - Rich Bartholomew
Our men experience intentional spiritual growth through fellowship, prayer, growth in God's Word, and service together. The men gather yearly for a weekend retreat, typically in the Fall each year, and they also meet weekly from 6-7 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall for the Men's Friday Morning Bible Study, which is a very interactive Bible study through Acts led by Pastor Dick. Coffee and bagels or English muffins are provided.
Mexico Missions - Scott Cerovac
The purpose of this ministry is to provide our local church members and their children the opportunity to show God's love by serving less fortunate families in Mexico through our partnership with AMOR MINISTRIES. We have opportunities for you and your family to volunteer for a one-day Saturday home-building mission trip to Mexico several times a year.
As a member of a team, you will help build an 11-foot x 22-foot, two-room home with a slab floor, stucco-finished exterior, two windows, and a door. The house is a simple design, built according to the standards of the community so that a group without skilled labor or power tools can still complete the project. Stonecreek provides several skilled builders who go on each trip. Adults, teens, and children are encouraged to participate. No experience needed -- just a heart for serving! Watch for upcoming trips in our weekly church bulletin or on the calendar on our website.
Mountain Top Ministries - Scott & Kristy Chuhaloff
One of our newest "Plus One" ministry, this ministry was formed to raise funds to support and serve Angeles Crest Christian Camp. Our own Active Youth Group attend this camp, and this is a fabulous way to reach out and serve those who serve our kids! You can get involved by:
-
Looking for sign-ups for a camp work day. No experience needed!
-
Helping with fundraisers.
-
Donating prizes to the camp.
-
Praying for the camp, its mission, and for the kids that attend the camp.
-
Helping decorate for their upcoming Summer Camp, "Jesus Christ, M.D."
Partners in Prayer - Penny Young
The Prayer Ministry helps the church body be connected together in prayer; we have a partnership with each other. It also allows us to be intercessors for those in need and to see how God will respond to our requests and prayers. Prayer is powerful and personal, and it can keep us close and in touch as a growing congregation.
This ministry serves those in the congregation who can e-mail their prayer requests to Prayer@Stonecreek.org. If you do not have access to e-mail, you may contact the current Ministry Leader or the church office with your prayer requests. Our goal is to make sure the entire congregation is aware of the e-mail prayer list. Confidential prayer requests can be prayed over by the Ministry Leader of Partners in Prayer and/or passed along to the Pastoral staff. We are available anytime, and no request is too big or too small.
If you would like to be part of the team of intercessors, all you need to do is send an e-mail to Prayer@Stonecreek.org or call the current Ministry Leader.
Peru - Chris Meersman
A member of our congregation, Manny Canales, is originally from Peru, and he helped to orchestrate assistance for his family and a small church that feeds lots of homeless children there. If you would like to participate in any future mission trips, please contact the church office.
PlusONE Shopping - Dee Burrows
This ministry provides a service to the needy within our congregation and community. Gift cards are donated to this ministry for various things such as food and gas. When there is a need, this ministry will evaluate that need and make a distribution based on their evaluation.
Russia Missionaries - Chris & Debi Meersman
Trena Berrier is our liaison with our missionary couple, Zhenya and Heather Shulgin (and their son, Ryan), who are in St. Petersburg, Russia, working with Rainbows of Hope, a refuge for children who are abused and living on the streets. If you would like to help support them, please contact Trena.
Scrip Ministry - Dee Burrows
The purpose of this ministry is to raise funds to assist Stonecreek in the mission field. When church members and their friends and family sign up to use Scrip, Stonecreek receives a certain percentage of what is normally spent at participating merchants, anywhere from 2% to 20% of the gross value of your purchases. This is an easy way to raise funds without taking anything more out of our pockets, and with little or no effort! There are several ways to participate. Please contact the church office, or click here to find out how.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Scrip program, first of all, the definition of "scrip" is "a short writing or certificate," not to be confused with "script," which is basically short for manuscript or the written text of a stage play, screenplay, or broadcast.
Singles' Ministry (SPRinGS) - Contact Church Office
Also called SPRinGS (Solo Parents Rooted in God's Service), the singles of Stonecreek reach out and welcome other singles to care for, encourage, strengthen and edify one another, and to establish singles in the wholeness and service of Christ. They have a variety of activities and opportunities for singles to get together to provide a place of belonging and to help meet some of their needs.
Sound Tech - Scott Mortenson
This ministry supports the Worship Team by working the sound system and recording the sermons.
Special Activities Set-up & Tear-down Ministry - Tim Adams
This ministry assists other ministries by providing a team to set up and tear down seating, tables, etc.
Sports Ministry - Robert Sanford
This ministry provides an opportunity for members of the church to fellowship together through sports activities and to provide a Christian witnessing opportunity by reaching out and inviting non-churched friends, neighbors, and community members to these activities.
Church-organized sports activities are designed not only for current church members but also for those who are new to the church. You are encouraged to invite your sport-loving friends, neighbors, family, and co-workers to come to a church-sponsored event as a way of introducing them to our church family. It is our hope that the Sports Ministry will function as a major conduit of outreach to the community of Rancho Santa Margarita and surrounding areas.
Tree of Life (Birth Choice Crisis Pregnancy Center) - Dee Burrows
This ministry exists to support Birth Choice, our local Crisis Pregnancy Center that assists young, unwed mothers with some of their medical, counseling and supply needs, and encourages these young women to carry their babies to full-term to either keep or adopt out. We collect donations and take them to the center twice each year, just before Christmas and Mother's Day. The "Tree of Life" is displayed in the foyer about three weeks prior to these holidays with suggestions for needed items hanging on its branches. One need only remove at least one item from the tree, either purchase it or obtain it used in excellent condition, and then bring it to church, unwrapped, by the designated deadline.
Women's Ministry - Debi Meersman
This ministry aims to provide a restful and safe place for women to connect and grow spiritually and to motivate women to use their talents to serve and reach others for Christ. The women meet monthly for a fellowship breakfast and annually for a weekend retreat, typically in the Spring each year, as well as various other special activities during the year.
Worship Ministry - Brett Williams
The purpose of this ministry is to provide for a spiritual connection to God through worship before church and some major events such as retreats.
